Comin From Tha D installment #2:ghettotech
Catalog # ITU 2000
Format: Vinyl
Intuit-Solar Records is proud to announce the release of the second installment of their Comin' From Tha D compilation. Featuring brand new tracks from DJ Godfather, Disco D, Terrence Parker, and Sean Deason, this release follows in the footsteps of Comin' From Tha D: Installment 1, which debuted tracks from Ectomorph, Shake, Recloose, and Dan Bell.
These artists join DJ Assault, DJ Shortshop, Keith Tucker, Punisher, Drivetrain, DJ Omega, LE Car, and Spacelings and Bassheads on the CD release in the Comin' From Tha D series, scheduled for release in summer of 1999.
In true Intuit-Solar style, this compilation features a wide range of artists, from the most innovative up-and-coming producers in Detroit, to established individuals that continue to expand musical horizons. This artistic diversity represents some of the most recent stages in the constant evolution of electronic music. Focusing on the recent musical phenomenon that has become known as "Ghetto-tech", the series is strongly influenced by the sounds of electro, drum&bass, booty, and hip-hop. The featured artists have pushed the boundaries of these often strictly segregated genres to explore the possibilities of new musical combinations and listening experiences.
On this second release, DJ Godfather drops his brand new electro-bass track, Chemical Warfare, next to Disco D's own electro track, Subsonic Drive. On the flipside, Terrence Parker slows down the tempo with a composition more influenced by hip-hop. Come on! Take me! is a pleasant surprise from this world-renowned producer, DJ, and Detroit hard house legend. Sean Deason (Matrix) closes up this LP with his new track, Trevor's Rainbow, an exploration of drum&bass.
The Comin' From Tha D project represents Intuit-Solar's continual efforts to document and promote the most innovative experiments in electronic music. Featuring Detroit artists from many of the city's premier dance labels (Planet E, Matrix, IT, etc.), this compilation brings together a group of artists breaking new ground in electronic music, and defining a soundtrack for their time.
