Shake, aka Anthony Shakir, has been a player in the world of techno since the very early days through his consistent efforts to create new and interesting works. One of his latest pieces is included on this 12", an electro track titled "Live for Friction"(remix). DJ Recloose has gained recognition in recent years for his work with Carl Craig and Planet E Records, including his position as a part of the innovative Innerzone Orchestra. For Installation 1, his jazz and funk inspired track, "Nalgas", demonstrates the experimental nature of Recloose that has brought his success. The last track on this 12" comes from Dan Bell, founder of 7th City Records, and a producer who has been putting out exciting work for years. He delved into Hip-Hop to create his track for this compilation, "Hooked on Phonics".
In true Intuit-Solar style, this compilation features a wide range of artists, from the most innovative up-and-coming producers in Detroit, to established individuals that continue to expand musical horizons. This artistic diversity represents some of the most recent stages in the constant evolution of electronic music. Focusing on the recent musical phenomenon that has become known as "Ghetto-tech", the series is strongly influenced by the sounds of electro, drum&bass, booty, and hip-hop. The featured artists have pushed the boundaries of these often strictly segregated genres to explore the possibilities of new musical combinations and listening experiences.
The Comin' From Tha D project represents Intuit-Solar's continual efforts to document and promote the most innovative experiments in electronic music. Featuring Detroit artists from many of the city's premier dance labels (Planet E, Matrix, IT, etc.), this compilation brings together a group of artists breaking new ground in electronic music, and defining a soundtrack for their time.
