Sean Deason is a part of the "third generation" of techno producers from Detroit. Although now known by a host of aliases for his music, including Freq, S.I.N., Code 3, Project X, and Psykofuk, he did not always plan on making music for a living.

He began his career as a graphic designer with the intention of specializing in graphics for the music industry. His clients included Carl Craig, A Guy Called Gerald, Def Jam Records, and One Records, among others. He also started the industry newsletter, "Matrix", with Dan Bell. Through this relationship and his friendships with Kenny Larkin and Richie Hawtin, he was introduced to the recording studio. They also helped him develop his music writing skills. He went on to produce records for Acacia and Generator Records before establishing Matrix Records in late 1993. Since that time, Deason's Matrix label has gained worldwide recognition in an extremely competitive global techno market.

After establishing his label, Deason began focusing on his DJ'ing skills and pursuing gigs at clubs and parties in and around Detroit. As he developed his skills and an individual style, DJ bookings came in from around the US, and eventually around the world.

In 1999 he released his track "Trevor's Rainbow" on Intuit-Solar's hit compilation series, "Comin' From Tha D'". The world premier of his live performance took place in May 2000 on the main stage of the revolutionary Detroit Electronic Music Festival. At this performance he featured the live vocals of Jason Berry. He is also re-releasing his full-length atmospheric album "Allegory and Metaphor" on CD in the summer of 2000 on Intuit-Solar.

Intuit-Solar is proud to feature the work of an artist as talented and dedicated as Sean Deason in our catalog and booking roster. We look forward to sharing his years of experience and dedication as he continues to push the boundaries of Detroit techno.

"Detroit techno third-waver Sean Deason has been one of the few purveyors of the 313 soundtrack-soul beatscapes to venture out of the usual 140 BPM formulas of the Detroit sound. On his new stellar (literally) full-length Allegory & Metaphor on his Matrix label, Deason makes the point in no uncertain terms." (H.Echlin, Metrotimes)
